Steve was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He received his B.A. in history from Baldwin Wallace University and his Masters in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University. He spent 30 years teaching government, American and world history, and street law in the Cleveland city schools. Steve was also the advisor for the Mock Trial program at one high school for 10 years, and his teams won numerous awards.
Steve now teaches classes to adult learners at the Sage Program (University of Akron), Encore Program (Cuyahoga Community College), and The Institute for Learning in Retirement (Baldwin Wallace University). Topics include U.S. Presidents; the Civil War; and a unique class on African American history called Unknown History: Blacks, The White House and America.
A lifelong Mets fan, he has also learned to love the Cleveland Indians/Guardians.
In the winters of 2022 and 2023, Steve was a guest speaker on two Princess Cruises. Steve brought history to life and spoke about Lincoln, Jefferson, and Washington.
Steve just completed a book on the battle of Gettysburg seen from the eyes of a 13-year-old boy. He is working on another Young Adult book about hidden stories of slaves and their contributions to the U.S. If anyone knows an agent or publisher, referrals would be most welcome.
